with all the ammo out there to shell at PS3, we really don't need to manufacture this lame argument about paying for online...it takes away the credibility of real critiques. Take for instance Sega GT 2002 for XBOX..then in '04 they release Sega GT Online....and they charged you the full price for the new game. Or take the first year that madden allowed online play...if you owned the previous year, it's like you're paying extra for online play (cause we all know the rest doesn't change much from year to year). This whole argument is dumb. When you buy the update, you actually download new content and features, not just "unlock" features you already have on your HDD. Okay, I need to stop cause even though I'm not really defending Sony, it's a bit too close for comfort.
