It's crap. It's for people that want to merge real life with PC life. It's like Myspace.

It seems a lot like The Sims (if you've ever played that) but online and more involved.

Personally, I liked The Sims, but it got old after about a week. The problem with things like Home is that you have way too many pre-pubescent little jerk-offs annoying the crap out of everyone. So I think actually meeting new people might be hard to do through a vehicle such as Home, but with friends it'll be cool.

Second Life is probably different in that way because it seems like more of an adult community, but I'm not sure of that.

All-in-all, it is pointless - but what isn't?

I don't think Home is going to be some sort of Messiah, but it does fill a vital role in expanding the ways you can meet people on PSN. Right now, you can only add people if you know their usernames, or if you've played with them in an online game (Resistance, Marvel, Motorstorm, etc.).

Being able to wander into a room dedicated to a specific game, or just a general chat area, is going to be a nice touch, and a great way to build your friends list. Having your own personal room to customize is a nice plus too.

As for the Sims-like aspect, I think it'll be a lot more popular than anyone realizes. XBL is popular for a lot of reasons, not least of which are achievements and friends lists - Home provides both.

Do I think this is going to convince people to buy a PS3? Not really. Games and a lower price will do a lot more for that. But more features certainly doesn't hurt.

It also depends on how much time you have to play games. For a person like me, Live and the way it handles friends and such is the perfect way to get into a game. I don't have time to walk around some virtual world...I barely have time to play at all.

Plus, meeting new people usually just ends up cluttering your friends list. I have so many people on my list that 80% of them I can't even remember why they're on it.

7 & 8 were basically it for final fantasy. The people who kept buying them after that are the same kind of people who buy a ps3, and its those people who might save the ps3... I think even more so than MGS final fantasy might push sales because the remaining FF "fans" just by w/e crap square and sony put out.

I mean really, no self respecting FF7 fan thought Advent Children was a good continuation of the story.... but so many people still liked it... why? Think Wendy's commercials.

Ok...I'm thinking of yummy chicken sandwiches, but not connecting it to why people liked Advent Children?

No one holds you at gunpoint to enter Home. It's an optional interface.

Managing friends lists is like on any other online service; periodically you have to sweep out the stuff that's collecting cobwebs.
