lol goldy

and why isnt the comparison not valid?

i recognize that they are different markets, but my logic is that DS and Wii were similarly innovative for the respective markets and that each was markedly more casual friendly than previous platforms

So obviously, new hardware doesn't encourage smarter AI, better physics, and a deeper level of immersion than handhelds...

argh sorry double post

Hardware does not encurage better AI, good programmers do (Unreal 1 has one of the best AIs I have ever encountered in a FPS and that game is 10 years old).

Physics (at least in the way it has been used up to date) is nothing else then an extension of graphics.

You create immersion by story telling not by graphics and shiny effects.

Now that is not entirely true ^^, A more efficient processor definatly makes AI easier, as well as other processor stuuf. Do decent programers help? of course, but saying the hardware is irrelevant is well...wrong.

that doesn't mean there isn't potential!!! I'm waiting for a game where I can bust down doors, and floors...I see physics as the saving grace for fps's, which is why I'm excited for crysis :/

Yes, because a 386 PC can beat a human at chess...

So, when a bridge explodes in Half-Life 2, and I have to find another way round, and another fork of the story takes place, that's not story telling?

*Is tempted to post a post with just "BioShock" and exclamation points but doesn't.*
