Default Wiiware details (50 meg cap??)

"The maximum size for a Wii Ware title is 40 MB. Just to put this into perspective, the game size limit on XBLA used to be 50 MB and is now 250 MB, while Virtual Console games range from approximately 1 MB to 32 MB depending on their original system."

This will surely get blasted, your onions?

[edit; damn it, typoed the thread title (optimistic freudian slip)]

To be honest, you can't really expect it to be more what with the 512mb storage. I'm sure some people will be able to do awesome things, even with the limit, but it's there for a reason.

Ah, ok, pays to check your sources. IGN reported on this, but Nintendo refuted the claims apparently;

Nintendo has disputed some of the Wii Software (WiiWare) details announced in an IGN podcast this week, which claimed that WiiWare titles would be capped at 40MB, that developers would set their own prices and be limited to releasing one game per month.

"I can confirm as we originally said at the announcement of the WiiWare service earlier in the year that WiiWare games will come in a range of sizes but we will encourage smaller, more compact games for the service," a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer today.

Hmm, still vague. If this turns out to be bs feel free to lock this thread thnx.

Indeed, that was a naughty mistype.

I still say Nintendo should really give us external HDD, or at least compatibility with the existing ones. Why the fuck did they include 2 USB ports on their console if they didn't intend on doing anything with them? They can say whatever you want about the fact that once we downloaded the game we can redownload them again free of charge, but since downloading takes a while even for the smallest VC games, it'd be a real chore, plus, what happens in a few years when they decide to take the service down?

SD backups FTW, but still pretty annoying. That's currently my main pet peeve at Nintendo.

The lack of any sort of hard drive support really is stupid since the Virtual Console was one of their main points when introducing the system. I know there are ways around it, but if downloadable games is one of the major drawing factors for your console, you really should include some place to store them. Wouldn't be surprised if some people stop downloading VC games once they run out of memory because they don't realize that there are other places you can store them.

Or they could delete the games and shizzle.

But yes, there are a lot of idiots, but that goes far anything.
