The problem is not with having another Mario or Zelda, they are always great games, and I'd always need them (of course, as long as Nintendo maintain the originality, which it did a good job with these titles). If this wasn't the case, then Mario would have ended like Sonic.

it's funny to see people complaining about wanting a new franchise but every time one comes out it ether flops or does just well enough to get a equal

several people have asked and even research this stuff

new games don't sell unless they're hyped, or the cover has(from the makers of_______) on it.

so because new titles don't sell well, companies should stop working on new ones?

of course a new platformer wont do as good as a Mario, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't work on new titles.

That's not what he's saying.

He was actually pointing out the irony (or hypocrisy?) of the people on forums such as NGW who bitch about milking franchises and asking for new IPs, but who then go around and ignore the new stuff because it's not well known.
