He's trying to prove that the wii has so many sales cause a bunch of non-gamers bought it. You know old women and such, just for wii sports. My parents are actually an example of this.

You're making assumptions about the user base of a console based on sales of a game of that console. I have taken your point and gone over your head, to say, instead of defending against your assumption, 'who the hell cares?' If you wish to put me in the 'defense force', I would have to be one of the active members you're talking about who kept on singing the praises of potential SMG sales. I was not one of them. While I looked forward to the game, I didn't make any outlandish statements about high SMG sales significantly showing the true make up of the Wii userbase. That is all.

In true offense force fashion, you have missed my point entirely.

You were the KING of such behaviour in your heyday. Creating discusssion/polls that are destined to end in Wii's/Your favour.

Annoying isn't it?

A game as good as Mario Galaxy should have great sales both long AND short term.

Less than stellar short term sales would prove (at least to me and many others that aren't blinded) that the Wii userbase is indeed buying the console for the reasons we've been saying all along. Price, Buzz and WiiSports.

Considering we post on a website that concerns sales figures, and debates the 'console wars', I'd say the sales of Mario Galaxy say a lot about the Wii userbase and in turn the result of the console war.

I guess I'm saying, MS and Sony were right in ignoring Wii sales and only trying to compete with each other.

If a console is ONLY selling because of a pack in game, it's cheap price and a gimmick (for lack of a better word) then I'd say most number crunchers/watchers/people with nothing better to worry about in their lives would consider that quite a hollow victory to the Wii.

Wii fans have used the Manträ "It's games that sell consoles". The Wii, as most of us can admit, doesn't really have those. So why is it selling?

Mario Galaxy lower than expected/deserved sales would merely enforce this view.

So in other words:
