My two biggest problems are the lack of horsepower and the lack of an online service comparable to Live.

The biggest problem with Wii is that everyone who wasn't blinded by waggle and Nintendo hype told Wii owners that Wii was going to be a dumping ground to fund games for PS360.

They insisted that PS2 ports and mini games would stop and they'd get games, but it's just not happening outside of Nintendo's first party.

This is the criticism people have with Wii, as much fun as Mario Galaxy and Brawl are, the N64 and Game Cube had the same problem, carried by 1st party games.

What bothers me is.
Zelda = port
Super paper mario = port
SMG
MP3
RE 4 = port
SSBB

They are the main games to me, half are ports.
I want new games, which take 100% advantage of the controller.
And the lack of online.

for me, it was the straw that broke the camels back. i wouldnt have any objections with them making a wii specific game, but the fact that its going to be wii specific but dumbed down enough to also play on ps2 does not bode well in my eyes.

Wow. Sharky, you just moved to the top of my "favorite Wii fans" list, because you've seen the light on something I've been talking about for months.

Seriously, as much as the hardcore Ninty fans want to deny it, there is a divide in software quality between the Wii and the PS360, and it's growing. Not just in terms of HD graphics, which are OK but not entirely necessary, but in terms of the energy and effort the developers want to throw at each project.

Face it, it's a lot harder to motivate a team of developers to develop a game for hardware that's substantially technologically inferior to its competition. I'm not talking about money - I'm talking about the real creative geniuses who turn out the BEST quality games. Nintendo developers are an exception because, well, the other consoles just aren't an option for them, so they do the best they can with what they have available.

But for the 3rd parties, who are not only looking to make money, but to keep their workforce happy, I think you'd find precious few game developers who will tell you honestly that they'd prefer to work on a Wii title, compared to PC or PS360, and it all boils down to how much creative freedom they have under each architecture. You look at games like Call of Duty 4, with awesome realistic visuals and intense gameplay, and you just KNOW that this sort of thing just isn't possible on the Wii, no matter how cool you make the controls. There's just not enough juice under the hood to do it.

If you want to know why 3rd parties aren't showing the Wii more love despite its brisk hardware sales, you don't have to look too much further than this. You can't make great games without great developers, and the great developers who have a choice don't want to make games on the Wii.

the wii has been annoying me more and more in the last few months, and as expected the biggest problem that i have with it is the games. there simply are not a lot of must own games on this system right now and unfortunately we are seeing a continuing trend that may well doom the wii to follow every other ninty console of the 3d era: that of having great 1st party and absolute shit for 3rd party.

so my problem is this. devs are using the wii as a quick cash cow and making shit on it hoping uninformed casuals will buy it in order to fund real projects on the PS360.

it started with stuff like RE4 wii edition and umbrella chronicles, which are great games in their own right. But what we have here is a port from last gen, and a quick RE review game made to finance the real RE sequel appearing only on ps360.

Then a few weeks ago we hear reports of House of Dead from the Saturn coming to wii. now we are back 2 full generations.

and now the new ghostbusters movie-game coming out next winter is being made with 2 distinct version, an absolutely amazing version for the ps360 (that game seriously makes me jealous), and a "cartoony" one being made by a separate dev for the ps2 and wii. Here we have a wii game being held back so it can still fit on an 8 year old platform, which happens to be the most technologically inferior platform of last generation.

the recent Soul Caliber spinoff for the wii reportedly sucks donkey-kong balls (big and hairy) and guess what? SC IV is coming to PS360 in the semi-near future.

bottom line. devs are destroying the wii as a legitimate gaming console by using is as a place to throw utter shit to make a quick buck, or be even lazier and port a game thats already been released in the past over to it. its not just minigames anymore, this is stuff in every genre, and its all hurting the wii.

from my point of view this is the biggest and most pressing problem the wii faces and i tell you what, it is making the 360 look more appealing by the day to this DisGruntled Wii Owner. /rant

discuss
agreed.

the wii has a handful of good titles, and I'll even admit it has more AAAs than the PS3, but it still lacks AAs and As that make a console goods.

Its biggest problem is that no one is taking it serious like they did during the days of the N64/SNES.
