Biggest Problem with the Wii?

as many of you might have noticed, i am a wii fan. well, at least i was 6 months ago when the wii was still full of promise.

the wii has been annoying me more and more in the last few months, and as expected the biggest problem that i have with it is the games. there simply are not a lot of must own games on this system right now and unfortunately we are seeing a continuing trend that may well doom the wii to follow every other ninty console of the 3d era: that of having great 1st party and absolute shit for 3rd party.

so my problem is this. devs are using the wii as a quick cash cow and making shit on it hoping uninformed casuals will buy it in order to fund real projects on the PS360.

it started with stuff like RE4 wii edition and umbrella chronicles, which are great games in their own right. But what we have here is a port from last gen, and a quick RE review game made to finance the real RE sequel appearing only on ps360.

Then a few weeks ago we hear reports of House of Dead from the Saturn coming to wii. now we are back 2 full generations.

and now the new ghostbusters movie-game coming out next winter is being made with 2 distinct version, an absolutely amazing version for the ps360 (that game seriously makes me jealous), and a "cartoony" one being made by a separate dev for the ps2 and wii. Here we have a wii game being held back so it can still fit on an 8 year old platform, which happens to be the most technologically inferior platform of last generation.

the recent Soul Caliber spinoff for the wii reportedly sucks donkey-kong balls (big and hairy) and guess what? SC IV is coming to PS360 in the semi-near future.

bottom line. devs are destroying the wii as a legitimate gaming console by using is as a place to throw utter shit to make a quick buck, or be even lazier and port a game thats already been released in the past over to it. its not just minigames anymore, this is stuff in every genre, and its all hurting the wii.

from my point of view this is the biggest and most pressing problem the wii faces and i tell you what, it is making the 360 look more appealing by the day to this DisGruntled Wii Owner. /rant

Yeah, i think you're right.

I dont own one, but you make a lot of sense.

This might sound trollish but also the wii is not as powerful as 360/Ps3

Its like an xbox. You cant expect to keep up with their games.

But the motion sensing's pretty good. So you'll just have to wait till the hit the nail.

yeah well, each time something like this is made it is more and more a pressing issue, the situation is getting worse, and more reports of this kind of stuff are coming in every day.

I don't have your concerns since I personally am more into it for the 1st party titles.



But I wonder what the 3rd party people are thinking?

alot of the blame falls to the devs for me, but what can i do? not buy their game? that would just motivate them to not release anything for the wii
