Juno, my favourite game this year is Uncharted so far, but I am liking Assassin's Creed more than I expected.
But I know Uncharted couldn't win GOTY anyway. I think Bioshock deserves it more than any other game.

- Great Story
- Great graphics
- Great controls
- Can easily be played more than once

Having said that, I like Uncharted more. But I'm unbiased and smart enough to know what DESERVES the award. There's a lot of shit movies I like, doesn't mean they should be Academy Award winners.

About the whole expectation thing. We're getting our wires crossed. My idea of a games expectations and yours are different. EVERY game ever released has high expectations. No one makes a game that WANTS low scores and poor sales do they?

By expectation, I meant, that Galaxy is carrying the weight of world on it's shoulders in a sense. In the eyes of most "hardcore" (i know that word sucks) gamers, the Wii would probably live or die by the result of Galaxy. Even for casual gamers. They can't play WiiSports forever. And since Metroid isn't their thing, Mario was the next choice.

If Mario got lower scores, let's say 7.5, the sales would be a lot less than they are gonna be (even though they are already going to be lower than they should be). Developers see this and go "Shit, Mario Galaxy couldn't push software out the doör what chance does our game of doing so?" It starts a domino effect, and devs won't even bother making decent games for the thing. I know my example is somewhat exaggerated, but you get my point.

Halo 3 is Halo 3. Whether the review scores were 7.5 or 9.9, the game was going to sell 5-6 million worldwide on day one. It's Halo. So the 360 didn't RELY on it the way the Wii will rely on Galaxy.

Yeah, Halo pushed console sales, but the 360 is already a software selling monster and devs WANT to make GOOD games for it. Not to mention the 360 has OTHER Franchises that actually SELL on it. I'm reading this as I GO and I fear you will STILL misunderstand, but I'll hope for the best.

The only unknown quantity for me is Zelda. Metroid is basicaly dead now, but Zelda remains to be seen. The first Zelda's sales results are hard to judge. It was the ONLY game the Wii had for the first 6 months, so it was going to sell regardless. The next Zelda's sales will tell the true story. All the Nintendo big games will have been released, so it wil have stiff competition. It's going to be interesting to see if ANOTHER Nintendo franchise is overshadowed by the Wii's new fanbase.

I can see how my ability to be completely objective and unbiased against the flow would make people uneasy. Especially Nintendo fanboys.
