OPETH, PART of the problem (while I do understand your initial concerns) is that the Wiimote isn't quite how Nintendo intended it to be. I think mainly because we haven't reached that sort of level technologically yet.
True, also the Wii Remote may not have reahced its potential yet, Nintendo or other developers may improve on its effectiveness later in the Wii's lifespan

I posted about this in the locked Leonidas thread.

I really dislike the Wiimote's layout. While the motion control itself "mostly" works, and the laser pointing "mostly" works, the button layout is enormously uncomfortable. The buttons, aside from A and B, are small and annoying to reach with a standard grip.

On top of that, developers haven't really taken the time to understand the control scheme properly and adjust their game design to accomodate it, resulting in controls that feel tacked on, or worse.

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Metriod Prime 3
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
The New Pokemon
Mario and Sonic at the olyimpics
Endless Ocean
Zelda Twlight Princess

The list goes on...........

because of the Wii remote I've chosen to miss out on these games.

Its annoying once the novelity wears off, does not feel right on solo games always having to do motions, doesent feel like your gaming.
Cant explain it well enough but the fact there isnt a choice (from what im aware of) to not use the Wii Remote.

Could Nintendo include a normal controller as another option if you do not want play using motion Wii Remote.
If I had the choice to be able to revert back to normal controller on Wii games I would have certainly kept hold of it.

Could this happen in the future

Classic Controller

some wii games allow you to use it instead of the wiimote.

I find the really only uncomfortable thing on the wii are the 1 and 2 buttons. Everything else my thumb can get to easily.

It could be used if the game is made to allow it's use. Smash Bros. includes the option, but for most of the Wii lineup only the remote will work. Which is why Nintendo should use Smash to show developers that just because they're making a Wii game it doesn't mean they have to tack on motion control if it isn't really needed.

Honestly, I don't see a reason for a game to be made for the Wii if it doesn't use the unique controllers' abilities...

There are DS games that don't make use of the touchscreen.
