Chibi has nothing aainst sequels, and agrees, Chibi is talking about the people quick to call them all rehash... then complain about the lack of new IPs while 1) not even touching new IPs 2) buying the 7 sequel of a series while saying the 5 sequel of another is rehash

| New IPs is good. But if they are aren't good games, we don't care. Nintendo make new IP's every generation, it's just that nobody buys them.

| They need to more aggressive... Chibi, you make a valid point. Sequels tend to be games that have enjoyed enough commercial success to make the developers think making more of the same will be profitable. Whenever we play a game, and we beat it, and we love it, we want more. That's why there are sequels. I love the Zelda puzzles, not because they're /hard/, (which they really aren't), but because they're full of "oh snap" moments and "dang, that's cool" pauses in the game. The combat and what not was too easy after OoT and only getting easier. But in any case, you allude to a hypocrisy in that there are those who cry out against sequelitis whilst greedily hoarding anything with a number greater than two on it. I should then point you to God of War, before it got a sequel. To Gears of War, before it got a...trilogy? To Pikmin, before it got a sequel. You seem to have missed the fact that any game that has a sequel has to have done well before it was famous. I'm not sure you can so clearly divide gamers into the "sequel whores" and the "pioneers" so easily. And if it's Ninty fans who are asking for IPs as Nintendo was the Roman Church and IPs were salvation, I hope they're reading this thread too. I just want people to stop spamming the term, because I believe, deep down, none of us are asking specifically for a new face. An "old intellectual property" is too broadly defined for it to be justifiably criticized. It's true, we don't want to watch Link save Zelda from Ganondorf AGAIN, but it's not like Midna's in every iteration, or that the Zelda series has looked the same since the transition into OoT (WW and TP both sport vast graphical differences, especially with regards to art direction). So please stop saying "new IP." It's not some magic word. If you want fresh gameplay ideas, I agree, they MAY be found in new intellectual properties. If you want entirely new stories, with whole new worlds and nothing in common to extant worlds, I agree, a new intellectual property tends to have that (but not always quality). But if you just want more good games....then say so. |

| New IPs would be nice but I would like to see some really old titles be brought back, ie Kid Icarus wii

| Actually when you look at it, new IP's is one thing that the PS3 has done rather well so far this gen. Most of their top games have been new IP's ie. Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Uncharted, and I'll include Assassin's Creed even though it's multiplatform. Warhawk is kind of borderline as it is a sequel to a game that came out 10 years ago, so it's not exactly a PS regular. Most of the games listed are planned to have sequels coming sometime in the not too distant future.
