| I've heard, over and over, a valid complaint over Nintendo's lack of good games on the Wii. This is very true. I've owned a Wii for close to a year now and I have like, 3 games to show. (I secretly went and buried soul calibur legends). While I love Trauma Center and SMG, and beat TP three times for no particular reason, it occurs to me that this is a small number in comparison to the "good" games on the 360. (The PS3, that's debatable at best). This argument seems strangely coupled with an unspoken petition for Nintendo to come up with new IPs. I've assumed IP to mean "intellectual property" up to this point, so I'm beginning to really wonder if this demand is what it sounds like. For the record, then: 1. Is there a lack of Wii games? (answer: no. They just all suck.) 2. Are all of these games Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games? (answer: no. they just suck. remember?) 3. Does that mean that they're new IPs, and thus the very thing we've all been waiting for? (answer: no. they suck. get that in your head.) 4. Did you mean you wanted Nintendo to come up with new IPs? Because, of course, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Wii Play don't count? (answer: those are arguably new intellectual properties, but honestly, they're not satisfying enough for us to be sated.) So, in conclusion: Are "new IPs" what Nintendo needs? Or would we be okay with any sort of truly awesome game, even if it had Link, Mario, AND Samus in it? (Answer: www.smashbros.com - Select Language - Nintendo) I hope I'm right about what I think you guys are arguing; if I'm wrong refute me or tell me what I'm missing. |

| Nintendo might want to create some, but it's up to the 3rd parties to get some good fresh titles on the Wii.

| Doesn't just about every anti-Wii thread end up talking about this anyway? The Wii, like any console just needs to have good games released. Doesn't matter if they're new or existing franchises, 1st or 3rd party.

| I'd like to see some new things. I just don't like the fruityness of their established titles. Except for metroid.

| Word is that Nintendo is bringing back a classic franchise soon, and that you should be "excited about the franchise and about the people involved", according to Cassamassina.

| That's the point. That's what all the anti-Wii trolls are (hopefully) getting at, but none of them are properly articulating. None of this "NEW IP OR BUST" nonsense, none of this "HAZ NO GAIMS" nonsense. This thread's purpose is to reduce that occurrence to the people who don't read any threads which they're not flaming in. I'm just really sick of people saying "Ninty needs new IPs DAMMIT! THEY ONLY HAVE MARIO METROID ZELDA!!" Because, frankly, new IPs don't mean better games. And if Nintendo gives us "what we want," the results will suck worse than TP, which was trying to give us OoT.

| Well, the reason people want new IPs on the Wii is not necessarily a good game, but that people get tired of rehashed and reused gameplay mechanics. After sequel upon sequel, people are getting a little bored with almost identical Zelda gameplay. Of course, change can come within a series, but that often angers the fanboys and can turn out disappointing, so it's nice to have a new IPs like Disaster: Day of Crisis. Also, they give opportunities to try out things that wouldn't work within established series, whether gameplay mechanics or types of stories.
