Gears has better environments (even though they are small and closed) and Uncharted has better characters, especially in the face.

Call of Duty is weaksauce. It's a VERY BASIC FPS engine cranked up to the max. I don't think it deserves the credit it gets personally.

Ever since Resistance, I have a new found respect for game engines that work hard but may not look as good as an engine that looks great, but doesn't offer much.

Put it this way, I'd rather get fucked by Jessica Biel, than just stare at Jessica Alba naked....if that makes sense.

Yeah, I think this is a personal taste thing, but I think Uncharted surpasses Gears in just about every way.

It's may just because of how big and how much more colourful the areas in Uncharted are over Gears, as well as the character detail and animation.

Both are stunning looking games, but I definitely prefer the general look of Uncharted over Gears. I'm looking forward to Gears 2 and Uncharted 2, I'm wondering where they're going to go from here.

LOL! It makes perfect sense.

Don't hate on COD4, man! I don't know much about engines and all that, but I know I love that game. It has its flaws, but I'm a big fan of its style. Being basic isn't necessarily a bad thing - especially in this case.

I'm with you, though - I'd rather have a game that offers a lot and may not look as pretty (maybe throw Halo 3 in that boat) rather than "staring at Jessica Alba naked".

Don't get me wrong man, I know you're on this little PS3 fanboy crusade at the moment, I'm not bagging Uncharted, I LOVE Uncharted.

I'm just saying, that if anything, rounds got them mixed up. If there was one area you could say Gears beats Uncharted, IF, then it would be the environments, not the characters.

The characters in Uncharted are unbelievable. Their skin wrinkles and they have real expression, and even the clothes wrinkle, AND get wet at the right level of the water, it's amazing.

If they could only clean up the frame-rate, tearing and slight jaggies, you'd have the perfect looking game. Here's hoping for Drake 2.

I'm not having a go at COD4 as a game. I love it. I'm saying graphically, it loks good on the surface, but when you look deeper, it's weaksauce. Environments aren't very interactive at all, IF at all. Textures are so so, especially for an engine that isn't doing anything. Dead characters can't be interacted with AT ALL, and disappear pretty quick. Lighting is meh if it even exists, and the physics aren't much to speak of. Not to mention the environments aren't very big.

Yeah, Halo 3 looks pretty good, but I swear some of those textures from the campaign were ripped straight from Halo 2.
