| And may it do so, it's obviously not going to shift hardware and didn't have that big of a fanfare from Sony... but through word of mouth, it silently crept well past 1,000,000 copies sold, enough for Naughty Dog to confirm a sequel, which I'm thrilled about.

God of War 1 got rave reviews but didn't sell well.....at first. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and I think Uncharted 2 will sell like crazy. |

| What I want to know is - whatever happened to UTIII? That game fell off the face of the earth a week after its release. It's not out in the UK yet though - right? I agree that Uncharted 2 will do much better (especially if its released at the right time). Plus, by then the PS3 will have a much larger installed base. |

The US is owned by the 360 really, at LEAST on the software front. Wii owns the hardware front, and the PS3 is in trouble. Everywhere else in the world is different. |

| UTIII is supposed to be out here in 2 weeks... it's kind of already off the radar here. It may have a week of good sales and then it'll be gone. I don't think it's a "bad" game, I just don't think the modding community for UT is as big as it once was. The game didn't sell well on PC either. It's also madly gimped by requiring you to buy a PC version to get the mod tools.

And needing the PC version IS BS. Epic never made it seem like that would be a requirement for PS3 owners leading up to the game's release. |

It was kept so quiet... then when the game was released, the PS3 exporter for the mod tools wasn't even ready. The only reason most people knew is because of the concept of full mods on a console.

| MS and Epic don't seem to get along all that well. I'm sure MS is going to be real quick in making concessions for a game that isn't even going to sell. I'll bet it's #1 on their list of priorities. Epic basically lost all of their bargaining tools because nobody gives a crap anymore; though, it's not a bad idea overall - might do better with another game. I remember hearing about the mod tool delay and thinking, "what the hell is that all about?" |

| Had UTIII been a big seller, Microsoft probably would have had no choice but to change their entire online system for Epic, alas, as it stands, they've a snowballs chance in hell, which means the game is very unlikely to see a 360 release and, if it does, it's going to be downloadable "best of" packs, but even these are unlikely because they'd still have to seek permission of every single person who created the maps and I'm sure 360 owners don't want to have to potentiall pay for something PS3 and PC owners get free Basically the big selling point of the game wasn't ready for release, which was kind of silly.

| I don't think anyone in the UT modding community was caught flat-footed about UTIII's modding requirements. I know I wasn't; if anyone out there thought you could just pick up the PS3 version and somehow magically mod it without the PC version, they don't know even the fundamentals of game modification well enough to do anything practical, so it's not exactly a big factor. What UT3 is suffering from is the absolute GLUT of first person shooters that are on the market. Nothing more, nothing less. The mod community for UT3 is in excellent shape.
