EA: PS3 will outsell 360

I think another part of it is the blu-ray. Now that blu-ray has effectively won the format wars (after warner switched sides) the PS3 is basically a very cheap blu-ray player. I don't think it will be as significant as the DVD player in the PS2 was, but it will probably give it a nice bounce in addition to its sales already improving sales.

I dont care because it doesnt matter to me... I get to play all the games, and all the systems and not care who the hell 'wins' as long as I keep getting games. MS can drop out tomorrow and it wouldnt be any skin off my nose.

The more time I've spent on this site, the further away from the 360 I've gotten. I've become more mature as well. I think it's a direct correlation between the two.

People are starting to run out of excuses to not buy a PS3. "I'll wait till it comes down in price". Still not as low as some people might want, but it has come down quite a bit. "There's not enough games". Good games have been arriving at a decent rate recently, and 2008 should be the best yet. "I'll wait to see if Blu-Ray wins". Barring some sort of miracle turn around by HD DVD it looks like this has happened as well.

The price still might be slightly high for some people, but I see no reason why the PS3 shouldn't be able to hold it's own this year.

It's funny, but these type of complaints were all levelled against the PlayStation 2.

"It's too expensive"
"No games"
"Disc format no one wants"

I also recently posted some old news articles about sluggish worldwide PS2 sales in its first year. I'm not saying that PS3 is going to match PS2, but it's funny how often people forget these complaints for the PS2 when you look at its sales.

While I do agree that it is still somewhat expensive (for a games console, which should be its main focus), the no games arguement is moot, Blu-ray was the clear and far and away consumer and studio choice and a year headstart means nothing when you get outsold and have your LTD destroyed in various countries by a console with "no games" with what is potentially your consoles biggest line up. Microsoft won't get a chance like that again.

I'm sure Microsoft are sitting wondering what they need to do to win against a power you can't buy, brand recognition.

@ PirateThom, the PS2 was released with the price tag os $299, $300 less than the PS3 initial price!! PS2 used DVDs which been around for 6 years before the PS2, and had a better launch lineup than the PS3
