you missed the other part of my post

the PS2 was released with the price tag os $299, $300 less than the PS3 initial price!! PS2 used DVDs which been around for 6 years before the PS2, and had a better launch lineup than the PS3

Which was $100 more than the Dreamcast, DVD was still very much a growing format and didn't take off until after the PS2 and I remember the PS2s launch line-up, if anything it was only marginally better, but not by a lot. The only real standout game was TimeSplitters (I think) and SSX... it didn't really have a lot until Metal Gear Solid 2 and Gran Turismo 3.

But not bad as it is today! Even now after several SKUs and pricecuts the PS3 is still the most expensive with least intersting library.

After all these posts I can't believe no one has comented on EAs numbers.

1. According to EA, the Wii is going to sell more in Europe than NA.
2. The PS3 is going to double the rate of sales in NA but stay pretty much static in Europe (is there something that we are missing out on?)
3. Despite the incresed supply, Wii fit, Brawl and Mario Kart, the Wii will sell less this year than last.

Something is definately wrong with these numbers. I think most members on this site could predict better numbers than this. There's no reasons given and there's past (or current) evidence to say that things are going to change this drastically. I mean come on, last year the 360 doubled the PS3 in sales in NA, now it's supposed to be even? Even with the slight advantage the PS3 has on games this year (barring delays), the biggest one they have is on both.

Fyrus, you missed out the word 'inverse'
Everyone, the PS2 had backwards compatibilty, so the game library was already 1,000s - it had a major advantage over the other systems
PirateThom, you must've been the only person who knew people who thought the PS2 wouldn't pass the Dreamcast (either that or they were all Sega fanboys)
