Westwood made Command & Conquer.

Bullfrog made... oh, Populous, Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper...

Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect.

Who are Billfrog and Westwood again?

And yet, when people say RTS, they think of Starcraft...

And when people think of RPGs they think of Square Enix. I don't see your point.

But I don't think BioWare is at risk a EA. They even admitted that they screwed up Westwood, Origin and Bullfrog: EA's John Riccitiello: "Bullfrog, Origin, and Westwood? My bad!" - NeoGAF

I thought the mention of all these PC games made this a PC fight. Square may hold the title for consoles (or did at one time), but not for PC.

Hell, Populous was bigger than any of those games you mentioned, that game was released on like 9 different platforms and was a big seller for EA back in the day.

TBH, I think a lot of people think of Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, and Command and Conquer when it comes to RTS's. Those were the biggest four there has ever been. Granted I think Command and Conquer was one of the weaker ones...
