SNES could handle stuff like Sim City or Civilization. Sim City 2000 was on it too if I remember correctly. They handled decently with just the directional pad, so dual analog shouldn't be a huge problem.

yeah its a matter of running a cursor across the screen. RTS would be harder to do with needing to do things in a big hurry.

Oh BTW after reading this thread I went back and checked in some of my older gaming mags and supposedly a SimCity is in the works for PS3 and 360

SNES had Sim Earth and Sim Ant as well, now that I think about it further. Guess all this just provides further proof that the SNES was and is the greatest system of all time.

It'll likely be a console rendition of Simcity Societies, maybe with some extra stuff.

They have Simcity on Wii's Virtual Console. Get that. SNES Simcity was classic as heck, and it was awesome having bowser run around tearing your city up. I played Simcity 2000 but it had poor graphics on it, the one on Playstation was better.

Simulations that aren't real time would be fine (Civilation), even if it's nice to be able to use keyboard shortcuts. Even slower-paced simulations like the Sims would be fine with controller. The only things you really lose out on are getting awesome mods or user-created objects depending on your simulation of choice, which is why these are such great games on PC.

RTSs can still be fun with controller... but you're not defeating a Starcraft pro like Boxer with his 300-500 actions per minute on a keyboard/mouse with a controller, sorry.
