| Debate time Warriors. What is troubling you about gaming? Personally, I believe hype to create sales is destroying gaming. I am personally a huge Mortal Kombat fanboy but I can admit this series is what hurt gaming the most. MK in reality is very shallow fighter. It's a decent fighting game at best. Yet it still managed to create millions of dollars based solely on hype. Ever since then we've seen plenty of decent games get praise and sales due to hype. Anything Donkey Kong by Rare sold off of hype. Even Perfect Dark was marketed by hype. Now look to what we have today. I love GTA but I am willing to admit it gets far more praise (and sales) than it deserves. Halo in my opinion is one of the worst things to happen to gaming in years because it is a good game at best yet it still manages to sell millions and get labeled as one of the greatest games ever. Use the Wii as an example. It's a piss poor system in some aspects (more negatives than positives with the wii). The games just aren't there and the ones that are there sell way too much. The Wii owes everything it has due to marketing and hype. There are no right or wrong answers to this question, I just want to hear some opinions. Have fun.

| Killing gaming is far too strong of a term, 2pro. Gaming is at the best state it's ever been in.

| *stands* *applauds* *sits* and as i said in another thread just the other day, the fact that games say things like "of course x game didnt sell, its a new ip" even tho it might be the best game of the year. people need to pick games up because they are quality, not because it has the same title as 5 other games and is almost the exact same except for a numeral on the end of it... |

| I've got no problem with gaming. Currently it is more popular than it's ever been and it's making the most money ever. Why would you think gaming has problems?

| I also say its the developers not trying new things. For example, GTA was one of the first sandbox games ever, then after that there were a lot of newer games that were the EXACT SAME THING. Rather than try something new with the genre like Crackdown did, they try doing the same things to generate sales.
