Default DMC4 Producer says no Wii version

Crispy Gamer recently sat down with Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi for an interview.

Crispy Gamer

Quote:
Crispy Gamer: With the recent popularity of the Wii, it seems that casual gaming is the new direction in which videogames are heading. Yet, I love the fact that Devil May Cry 4 is still designed to be a hardcore experience for hardcore gamers. I'm happy that you believe that there are enough hardcore gamers out there to support Devil May Cry 4. Beyond that, I hope the series never winds up on the Wii.

Kobayashi: [Laughs] You know, a lot of people ask us if we are going to bring out a Wii version. I simply don't think you can make the game the type of game it is, with the awesome graphics and control -- I don't think that would work on the Wii. So, I don't think we're going to bring one out, no.

Crispy Gamer: We appreciate that.

Kobayashi: Plus, if you had to do the High Roller on the Wii [makes swinging motion upwards with two hands], you would probably get very tired.
Is the Wii Remote as amazing as all that, when you can't replicate one of the best action games in the genre on the console?

Discuss!

The Wiimote isn't the problem, it's the hardware. DMC4 wouldn't be as good as on PS3/360 because it's designed for those consoles. A Devil May Cry game could be made (they were good on the PS2, after all), but it would have to be a separate game, and I don't blame them for not making one. The Wii's market wouldn't be very interested in it.

Epic button mashing on the Wiimote would annihilate your hands.

A Wii version wouldn't work due to lack of buttons.

And no, if you'd played DMC ever, you'd know that wrist flicking is not an option.

Mario Kart and Brawl in the next few months say hi.

Also I've not played it so I don't know how similar it is but isn't NMH like DMC in terms of gameplay? People are saying that it plays absolutely fine... I'm pretty sure what the Producer is saying is that their "vision" of DMC wouldn't get justice of the "graphically challenged" Wii.

Or maybe it would be extremely difficult and time consuming to build a last-gen version?

I guess the number of games on the Wii have risen to four.

Metroid, Galaxy, Brawl, and Kart.... enjoy it's all you'll get on the wii's lifespan

You are talking about the same company that ported RE4 to mobile phones.
