MLB 2K8 - requires a hard drive to download free stuff they couldn't fit on to the disc
Burnout Paradise - requires a hard drive for online play

Welcome to console gaming.
Funny thing is, if you look at the 2 360 games. One doesn't sell anyway and the other ONLY requires it for online play.

Not to play altogether.

360 wins again.

That avoids the issue though, and we're back to "Minimum/Recommended" configs.

It doesn't matter if the game sells a million copies or 100 copies, there's no reason for a console to have an ideal config, just to play online. It's dangerously close to PC territory. If I actually paid for Live, I'd be pissed off to find I couldn't play Burnout Online because I don't have a hard drive.

Since simplicity is the one of the main aspects of a console, it seems that the PS3 really alienates itself on that.

Interesting.

Wii sales tell me online isn't where "the masses" are going. So Burnout needing it for online ONLY doesn't seem such an issue in the big picture.

On the other hand, the PS3 games nedding it to PLAY; is.

I think you forget how many casuals still own 360s for Halo and Madden. While Microsoft have two good SKUs, anyone who has bought a Core because it's cheap and bought a Live subscription, and buys the game and now finds they can't play the full game. I'd be more pissed off at this than finding I had to wait 20 minutes to play, than finding I'm unable to play on an online service I've paid for. Even if this affects 1 person, it's 1 person too many as far as I'm concerned.

While it's an issue, at least all the PS3 SKUs have access to all parts of the games.

Anyone who buys a Live subscription and a core at the same time should know that the core is does not have a hard drive and LIVE requires a hard drive.

Live doesn't require a HDD. But it IS strongly recommended.

I know I'm late to the topic but I spent some time on this and my count might be off by one or two but..

Alright take this how ever you want to.

Out of those top 42 ps3 games, 2 of them are basically the same game Motorstorm Japan Import and Tekken 5 online
So 40 really
Only 16 of those top games are console exclusive and that's including arcades.

For the Wii it brings it down to 10 console exclusives above 80 on metacritic
(and wtf Geomotry Wars not breaking 80?)

For me I'm pretty sure Brawl will be more than worth getting the wii by itself and was indeed why I purchased it in addition to the ability to have a GC to play Melee. I have had a great time playing the other gems on wii and using it as a party system when I'm not playing Melee. I almost have my whole genesis library back. And then there is the how could it not be coming Pikmin 3 as well as Okami, a game I fell in love with the first and only 10 minutes I played it

Really there are enough gems on the Wii that there shouldn't be any doubt of weather a gamer should be getting one. They have proved that the control can be excellent. There are some fantastic fresh ideas and games coming to Wii as well.

Some similar sounding realisms on Wii games that Speshal Ed said in () in his 5th posts could be said about many games as well on the 360 and PS3

Really what this shows me is that when I want to play the games that are on the 360 or ps3 I should just get a gaming computer. Which I'm going to get with as soon as i get a few more hundred saved up.

The problem with a gaming computer is that you miss out on the Sony exclusives, and this is not something I could do.

Microsoft, you get them on PC day and date or a few months/years later. Basically, Microsoft have a choice of platform to play their exclusive games.
