| Hold on. So gaming consoles have been around for over 20 years, and despite now being more popular than EVER, and even being bigger than the movie AND music industry, it's now going to die in the next 10 years or so? wtf? no really. |

| What Ed said ^^^ Gaming is on top. More people are getting involved in it, why would it stop in upcoming years? As long as I'm not alive if it happens. |

| if consoles moves to much towards PC maybe they will kind of disappear. If you have too many SKUs, replaceable/upgradeable hardawer, installs, etc I won't buy it at least. Will they go away completely? I don't think so.

| many analysts predict that PC gaming will explode and take over the console market in a few years. It may not seem likely now, but its coming. People can hook their PCs up to a high definition TV and use it as a monitor. You can utilize RF, Infrared, or now Bluetooth so hooking up your periphreals. Wireless networking is getting very popular and if it already hasn't surpassed wired networking in the home, it won't be long. Devices can communicate with each other and use each other's services. I dont think it would be uncommon to find a PC in a lot of people's living room in a few years. I know for fact that is the way of the future, and that's the way I want to go. My PC I will be building will be the centerpiece of my living room assortment and be my central media system for music, movies, tv, games, etc. and I know a lot have done this and many more will start considering it with a few years. And back to the original point, the main reason PC gaming will see huge growth is because people will be able to sit on their couch and play the game on their huge TV instead of sitting at a desk and utilizing like a 21 inch monitor, the former being the preferred experience for gamers. I think it'll be about 10 years before the console as we know it is just a PC essentially.
