| A good piece but I doubt it will ever beat the Wii. PS2 had casuals and I reckon near the end of this generation there will be quite a few casual gamers going to PS3 when the price comes down but right now the price is way too high.

| You can be a hardcore casual and a causal hardcore, definitions are forever blurred.

But yeah, that bit confused me, unless he was just pointing out the upcoming games.

| I read this on Daver's site and it pretty much looks like the guy that wrote this has a different definition of casual gamer from what we have accepted here.

| True. I don't really think the PS3 can catch the Wii, because they appeal to completely different audiences. As things stand now, the PS3 looks to have the upper hand against the 360, and it has some very big guns pointed at the more serious of the casual gamers (the people who buy more than 1 game over the lifetime of a console but aren't into the hardcore genres) with releases like SingStar and LittleBigPlanet. It remains to be seen whether Nintendo can stay on top of the hype while their game library continues to disappoint. They've avoided it thus far, and may do so in the future, but these things are impossible to predict.

But I do agree with them on the point that Wii developers are, for the most part, jumping on the Big Brain Academy bandwagon.
