here is the whole quote

Quote:
On whether we'll see an MMO on consoles to rival the success of WoW:

"I absolutely do [think we'll see that], and in fact I think by having a stable platform where every customer has an online capable box is a huge, huge potential advantage in building an MMO because you've already got an online userbase. It's a massive advantage over the PC and we don't have to worry about graphics cards or things like that. It's going to be very big. Console online gaming in general I think is going to be one of the next huge phases of growth in the online gaming space."

lol only way they could do that is to create console specific servers (so pc players don't get the chance to beat the console players into the dust) and tone down the difficulty of pretty much everything in the game so that it woul d be useable on the console.

Anyways even ignoring the above facts there is no way that Blizzard will EVER port any currently existing PC game to a console.

Why?

You can use Keyboard and mouse on PS3 and there's not that big a difference.

That would work IF very last person used a keyboard and mouse. Which wouldn't happen.

Lets say it requires keyboard and mouse. Then what? Would sony let Blizzard charge its $15 a month? Lets assume so for a second. Why would someone play it on a console instead of a PC? How would you install addons that are unaffiliated with blizzard (a must)? The cost would probably be the same as all ps3 games $60 +expansion $$. Why would users go for that when they could het it for 20$+Exp for PC? lol you would have to integrate it somehow with the browser so you can switch back and forth constantly (another must).

If u intend to share servers you would have to integrate it with Vent/ps3chat/WOWVoice chat somehow. Since Vent is a PC program that may cause some problems.

need I go on?

You're right, it won't happen. But a fair number of people play FFXI online on PS2 or 360, and most DO use keyboards. You wouldn't need a mouse though, I don't see why. The game could play pretty well with a controller if they gave it a pretty good way to handle the interface.

Yes, its their game, and Sony has said its up to the publishers to determine prices.

It'll probably come with Game + Expansion, like 360 FFXI did, came with game plus 1st 2, maybe 3, expansions. It was more than the PC version INITIALLY, but now its just as cheap to get FFXI w/ expansions as it is PC version.

They could provide a PS3 version of program on the disc that would work well with it.

The technical hurdles aren't near as bad as everyone is making it out, its just that Blizzard is dumb and don't realize the money making potential there would be (Even if its just to sell more copies of Wow to their existing players who might switch between the PC and their console if the missus kicks them off the PC or vice versa). The reason MMO games typically don't work on consoles is because the companies "Dumb them down" Even though there's pretty much no reason to do that, Wow is already a dumbed down MMO.

lol why would it have money making potential. People who wanna play WoW already have it for PC and if u have it to PC why would you downgrade an almost as good console version?

lol And Ventrillo is a 3rd party program which all serious WoW players use and there is no way it would be integrated for the ps3. Not a chance.

Oh and all this is ignoring the fact that Blizzard simply doesn't make Console games. End of story.

Oh and this is still an issue that would need to be addressed. you have no idea how important it is.

Oh and you also didn't sddress the issue of third party addons which almost everyone who plays WoW uses.
