Everyone knows you're a reasonable guy, Icemage! I wouldn't throw you in the same boat with some of these other clowns. (I didn't mean ALL non-xbox owners get angry...but the ones that do make me laugh) |

| Im not sure people get angry over it, just that the people who pay for the service always seem to 'talk it up' - as if to somehow justify their purchase to themselves?

| Personally I would like a 360 "Platinum" or something of the like. Basically I would like all Videogame DLC( Like maps, new guns, upgrades etc.) to be 100% free along with say 1 or 2 video game DL from marketplace per month. Along with all prior features of Gold of course. It could be like 10$ a month or something. I just hate paying for something and then having to buy all the goodies to further enjoy it. I agree with the OP point as well.

| Did you pay for your copy of cs? No, no you didn't. (assuming you were smart enough to buy half-life 1, that is) I don't understand why everyone seems to think 4 dollars a month does not add up...that's about 50 dollars a year, and over 3 years time you just spent 150 dollars for an online service that'd be free on pc. And yes, I do pay for live. And I hate paying for it with a passion. It's not like it stops little kids from getting on xbl, Halo 3 showed me that. |

| It was free for years. And the money from ads goes directly into Valve's pocket, even though they have very little to do with 1.6. You wanna know something funny? Every game I've played on PC that has voice chat, has annoying fucking kids screaming down the mic everytime (I had a little german bastard yelling at me on UT2k4 last night). Now, on Xbox Live, out of 10 or 15 games, I might come across one screaming kid. And you know what I do? I mute them. I can't do that on PC. $60 a year is worth it just to shut the little brats up yelling "I RAPED YOUR MOTHER" in my ear. |

That's a pretty fucked up justification, but whatever.. Last edited by Newerest; March 30th, 2008 at 06:34 AM. |

Not really. Do you like little brats screaming down your ear? I know I don't. I'll pay $60 for those little features that make online better. Ok, I'll come at it from a different angle. I play Xbox Live, and after a few weeks, I level up to the highest level I can get to, and I play with people of a similar skill. The games can swing either way, so it's great (I strive to play just that little bit better so I can swing the game in my teams favour). I play UT2004, which I've been playing since it came out. And still I'm playing people that are much, much, much better than me. Team Deathmatch isn't fun when you never win, or when you place last on your team. I'm not a bad UT player, but I always join servers with lots of people of a much better skill than me. $60 is a small price to play to make playing online much more fun. It's rare I play a game of Halo 3 (or any other 360 game for that matter) where I come away feeling shit. |

| Technically, yes they did. Cs was still in beta when the developers of CS joined valve. Plus, without Vac cs would be absolutely horrible. The only other developer that would keep on patching a 10 year old game that I can think of is Blizzard. Regardless, how does it feel that there are some advertisments in xbl, even after you paid for it? I feel it's ridiculous. It doesn't really bother me all that much, just something that doesn't really make sense to me when I think about it. Quote:
Yeah, kids are pretty annoying on xbl but you can't really do anything about them anyway. On the cs:s server that I play on, if any one person becomes annoying to that level, they get banned. Hell, if it's a kid with a mic saying anything chances are good we will start bitching at him just for being a kid. I've had xbl since..I'd say may 2004 - may 2006, and from Aug 2007- now. Way back when, xbl's price didn't bother me much. Since I was a kid, I couldn't really buy many games, which was good because xbox didn't really have many outside of halo 2. Which I played to death on live. Basically what I'm getting at is most 360 games worth playing on live have ethier free online on ps3 or pc, and I don't feel like live's pricetag is really worth it most of the time. Until steam and/or xfire take off, XBL has the community factor down better than anything. Only reason xbl can even be close to worth the money you have to pay. |
