Im gonna have to say its either CD rom drives for consoles, or chips for cartridges (like the DSP chip for SNES and the EA Sports battery chips for the genesis)

The answer to my question was 2007. Good eh? Nintendo provided consumer support for the SNES till last year. I think they ended N64 support at the same time too

all the questions are mixed about, no one should ask an other question un till the current has been conformed as correct, its hard to follow.
