Im not gonna cheat and use google but id go for:

2D image trickery made to make games look 3d?

Im gonna have to say its either CD rom drives for consoles, or chips for cartridges (like the DSP chip for SNES and the EA Sports battery chips for the genesis)

The answer to my question was 2007. Good eh? Nintendo provided consumer support for the SNES till last year. I think they ended N64 support at the same time too
