About bloody time I say. Although those charts only show up until the end of 2007, I definitely think 1st party will dominate this year with the release of Brawl, Wii Shit and MKWii. Still it's good to see they're doing better then in previous generations.

A question that comes to my mind, why are they called 1st and 3rd? What about 2nd?

It does surprise me to see 3rd party games sales so high, I was into the idea that they don't sell well on the Wii, or that what everyone was saying and I believed them.

There have been three prongs on the attacks on the Wii lately.

First point; Wii isn't next gen/Gamecube with a waggle is irrelevant in my eyes, I'm all about what games I have available to play, not what look like primarily (and some of them do look sweet too.)

Second point; No third party games or they don't sell should be debunked by this report.

The only remaining point would be that the third party games aren't good enough - cheap ass conversions/shovelware. As there are quite a few abysmal third party wii games out there I feel this is still open for debate. (I guess it's debate you want, or else you would have put it in the Wii section, right?)

Still hear/read this all over the place. To be straight the Wii is the only next gen console the others are just PS1/N64 but prettier

This argument is very subjective IMO I could also argue that I have allready played Qua... err I mean Halo 3 10 years ago but then it was called Quake.

And obviously, games that are frowned upon by lonley people that lack social life (aka. Hardcore gamers), do sell well so someone somewhere must be doing something right.

I'll pass on following up that line of discussion. Like I said, it's irrelevant to me.

Of course it's subjective, is it even possible to have a purely objective discussion about our tastes in games? The only objective criteria are purely technical, like resolution, sound bitrates/channels, factual button arrangements and descriptive narrative tecniques (aso). None of those can objectively define whether the game is any good as they are only circumstantial.

This is of course my purely subjective opinion.

Would be nice to see comparison ratios for the other two consoles as well.

I know in my case I'm glad the Wii isn't the only console I own. As a secondary console I have no problems with it, but I would be concerned and underwhelmed if it was my primary console. The PS3 takes up almost all of my gaming time. When I bought Mario Kart last week that was the first Wii game I bought in almost a year and the first time I've played the Wii regularly in many months, and even it is still getting overshadowed by the time I've spent with GTA IV.

Do I think the Wii is a bad system? No. It just doesn't seem to have many games that I really want to play.

But a comparison won't be fair since Nintendo has many more first party titles than Sony or MS
