Apparently about 18,6 million people. Which roughly equals the 360s installbase. (but I agree with you, I'm also puzzeled about that games sales)

maybe instead of paying to get the game, you could take care of real dogs and get payed.

Or maybe there are loads of kids who aren't allowed real pets for whatever reason so this is the next best things. Remember, kids up the age of 12 ALL love animals.

There are some additional reasons it sold so well; first, it was bundled with the DS as a very tempting package for the aforementioned kids (And I guess it was partly responsible for kickstarting the DS sales bonanza). Secondly, it's actually a very decent game on its own terms.

Thirdly some morons had to buy all versions of the game even though all the dogs are unlock if you only buy one.

I thought the game wasn't bad. The AI acts almost exactly like a real dog. It was fun for a few weeks until I remembered I had a real dog.
