Default Top 10 Disappointments of "New-Gen" Gaming

ReelGamers.com - Games. Movies. TV. You.

TBH I'm a bit surprised to find Mario Kart Wii on that list. IMO it's exactly what I expected it to be so I find it hard to be disappointed with it.

Actually, this complaint is entirely valid. I understand that they're trying to keep it competitive and give people a chance to catch up, but their formula is overly simple. In fact, this was a criticism of MarioKart 64 10 YEARS AGO. Where's the "innovation"? This would be an example of what I often criticize the Wii for: poor AI. The author of that list is correct in saying that MarioKart almost punishes you for being a good driver, staying on the track, and not crashing. You either have to hang back in like 6th place until you get a power up at the last minute and race ahead or you have to hang onto the same powerup the whole race and use it right at the end when someone's about to pass you. It's pretty ridiculous...and even more so that the formula hasn't changed one bit from the N64 days. Where's the innovation Ninthings...cause, ya know, you could use a racing wheel like 15 years ago.

And it gets even more ridiculous. In MK Wii if you get hit by an item in the race, you lose whatever item you have, so it actually isn't possible to hold on to a good item th whole time so you can use it at the end.

That being said, I still wouldn't call the game a disappointment, because I really don't think people were expecting anything much different from what we got. It seems that more people were disappointed with Brawl than they were with Kart.

Mario Kart Wii, Devil May Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed I completely disagree with.

i'd say that mario kart is best in its multiplayer...

how is DMC4 a flop? I loved that game, in a way it doesn't exactly feel new but rather an upgraded DMC3 which was an awesome game as well...you could say its almost the same thing in a way, which i guess is either bad or good for some

Assassin's Creed was a hit or miss for most people, i thought it was alright..and i wouldn't have put it on the list

I dont know about you but i personally dont usually find it difficult holding onto 1st place throughout a Mario Kart race.

I agree with most of these on the list but I wasn't disappointed by Mario Kart Wii. I mean, as was said before it was exactly as it was made to be. No one was expecting Gran Turismo Kart Wii or anything. Also, same thing goes for DMC4. After DMC2 they went back to the old formula which was expected. Some of these are pretty good though. Both of Sakaguchi's titles, Assassin's Creed, Haze, Lair and Folklore... pretty good.

I really didn't like Mario Kart Wii at all honestly. It was rather boring for me and I loved Mario Kart 64 back when.
