Default New forum activity

I was thinking of ways to try and increase some activity around here and I remembered that one thing that always generates interest is a good old fashioned gaming related debate. What I want to try is hosting a series of organized debates. Basically one person will be debating each side of the argument while the observers will ask questions and raise different points to be discussed by the debaters.

Now during the debate I will moderate the events to make sure it keeps flowing in a forward direction along with the posts staying within forum rules(respect each other so no name calling or direct personal attacks, and don't state your opinion as fact. Either say it's your opinion or back it up with some facts). Once I deem that the debate has run it's course a vote will be held where everyone can vote on who they think won the debate. Not on which side of the argument they think is correct, but on who presented the best argument. The winner will then move on to the next debate on a different topic with different challenger(s).

I'm just trying to see if there is interest from enough people to do this along with get some ideas for future debates. So post here if you are interested in participating along with any topic ideas you have.

The first debate will be "Has Nintendo failed hardcore gamers this generation?" If you want to be a debater please state if you want to support the yes side or the no side. Hopefully on Monday I'll randomly pick one person for each side and the debate can begin.

I will also try to post more news (if there is any that is) that I gather around the net, like I did some month ago.

Now I've finally moved and setteled I hope I will have some more time to hang around here.

A new suggestion for forum activity - Game Tournaments and rewards. If we can't offer cash prizes or game prizes, we can offer a spot in the honor roll of NGW or they can be featured on the front page for awhile.

Just some thoughts.

I'm sorry, I probably won't be debating. I don't think Nintendo has failed anything, except E3. Their game line-up is still better than that Mario Kart, F-Zero, Kirby's Air Ride year. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Wario Land is better variety. Most of the problems come from handhelds being so popular, so they get game support first from Japanese developers. It's hurting Sony just as much, can't think of anything for PS3. And MS throwing money at games isn't helping, Japan doesn't want a 360.

Although I could pop into the topic to some give some feed back, if you want. However actually being around for a debate is a no go.

We still need someone to support the yes side of things.

And DICE is welcome to come back but Phoenix deleted his account along with most others shortly after the move. So we are unable to just unban him or get in touch with him in anyway.

I'll go on the side that needs more members as I feel that both answers are correct

We just need one person for each side as it's set up as just a one-on-one debate. Everyone else will be asking questions to the two debaters to keep things moving forward. That means we need two people that come here on a regular enough basis or else we'll end up getting nowhere.
