Nintendo DS - 608.4K Wii - 555K PlayStation 3 - 224.9K PlayStation Portable - 221.7K Xbox 360 - 204.8K Playstation 2 - 155.5K Game Sales
Looks like the analysts predictions of the 360 having an up month and beating the PS3 were very wrong. Looks like a MGS bundle is better than a "price cut". Analysis will be up shortly.

BTW the 360 sold 23 000 in Japan last week which is a record (it was because of Tales of Vesperia) an it outsold PS3. Let me just find the numbers so I have a source for what I said.

As always this is a disclaimer for people who don't like numbers and stats. There are many of each in the upcoming post. So for the 3rd straight month and 5th time out the 7 months so far this year we have the Wii in first followed by the PS3 and the 360 in last. In a slightly interesting coincidence each console posted their 3rd lowest monthly sales total for the year, so it wasn't really a great month for anybody. The Wii continued to increase it ever growing lead and has moved up to 11,408,000 sales so far this gen. The 360 is slowly getting firmly entrenched in the 2nd spot with 10,698,000 sales thus far. And the PS3 has finally surpassed the 5 million mark with a total of 5,080,000. Despite the down month for sales the Wii still sold above(just barely) it's monthly lifetime average of 543,238 units. The 360 continues to have it's monthly average dragged down as the 205,000 units they sold this month is well below it's lifetime average of 324,182 consoles. Even the PS3 was slightly below it's lifetime monthly sales average which currently stands at 241,905 units. Each console had decreased sales from last month with the PS3 having the biggest drop following the MGS4 boom and decreased by 44.6% over the previous month. The Wii saw sales drop for the 4th straight month this time by 16.8%. The 360 only saw a drop of 6.8% but more was expected after their "price cut". The year-to-date sales numbers still see the Wii selling more consoles than the 360 and PS3 combined. The Wii is currently at 4,038,00 units so far this year, while the PS3 is at 1,834,000 and the 360 is bringing up the rear with 1,547,000. That has the Wii selling an average of 576,857 consoles so far each month this year, slightly above it's lifetime average of 543,238. The PS3 is averaging 262,000 per month so far this year which is also slightly above it's lifetime average of 241,905. And the 360 is at 221,000 per month this year and well below it's lifetime average of 324,182. For the 360 the 205,000 sold this month is their 2nd best July ever just behind the 206,000 they sold in July '06 and well ahead of the 170,000 they sold last July. The PS3 saw a decent jump as they sold 159,00 last July as opposed to the 225,00 this July. The Wii also saw an increase as they had 555,000 this year compared to 425,000 last July. The January to July sales for each year of the consoles life continue to show a solid increase in sales this year over last. The 360 had sold 1,602,000 units to this point of the year in 2006, cmpared to only 1,418,000 last year and 1,547,000 so far this year. The PS3 has sold nearly twice as many consoles so far this year compared to the same time last year. As of last July the PS3 had only sold 923,000 as opposed to 1,834,000 this year. The Wii has also had a significant jump going from 2,535,000 through July last year up to 4,038,000 this year.

Wasn't the PSP outselling the DS for the last couple of months? What happened?

| I don't believe it has been in the US. Japan has been PSP country most of the year.

| It seem I was mixing NA with JP, though I thought the trend was global.

Nope. Japan always likes to do their own thing when it comes to console and game sales.
