Default Some more Nintendo hate (it's hillariuos to read)

Game On What's Up with the Nintendo Wii?

Quote:
What's Up with the Nintendo Wii?

Anyone noticed the recent dearth of intriguing, headline-grabbing games for the Nintendo Wii? Some 555,000 little white boxes leapt off store shelves in July U.S. sales, according to NPD data, and Nintendo certainly did brisk top 10 software sales with Wii Play, Mario Kart, and Wii Fit. But look a little closer -- those three games came out in February, April, and May, respectively. Scan July's top software SKUs and the 360 and PS3 snatched five spots between NCAA Football 09, Soul Calibur IV, and Civilization Revolution -- all July releases.
While that speaks well of Nintendo's ability to sell more of less, is it setting the company up for a saturation crash, when the demographic lode its cracked wide open eventually taps out?
Check out Gamestop online. The front page is a great big love letter to PC, 360, and P3 gamers. Other than the multi-platform Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, there's not a Wii game in sight. Click on Gamestop's Wii-specific link and it's like falling into a vat of vanilla. Mario Super Sluggers, victim of lackluster reviews, headlines the portal. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and Guitar Hero: World Tour are ports. The only "bestselling" portal-splashed game is currently Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility.
Still awake?
The 360 has Gears of War 2 and Fable 2. The PS3 has Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet. Lord of the Rings: Mines of Moria and Red Alert 3 and Wrath of the Lich King are incoming for PC gamers. Multi-platform majors include Crysis: Warhead (PC), Silent Hill: Homecoming (360, PS3), Dead Space (PC, 360, PS3), Far Cry 2 (PC, 360, PS3), Fallout 3 (PC, 360, PS3), Mirror's Edge (PC, 360, PS3), Tom Clancy's Endwar (PC, 360, PS3, PSP, DS), and Left 4 Dead (PC, 360). And that's just plucking from the pre-holiday lineup.
The Wii? Try de Blob, Samba de Amigo, Wario Land: Shake It!, Cooking Mama World Kitchen, and Wii Music. Wii Music? According to Shigeru Miyamoto, it's "more interesting than a video game." Maybe because it isn't a video game?
I can't wait to see how stuff like Fracture (360, PS3) and Rise of the Argonauts (PC, 360, PS3) and the new Prince of Persia (PC, 360, PS3, DS) game pan out. NBA 09: The Inside (PS3, PSP, PS2) and Lord of the Rings: Conquest (PC, 360, PS3, DS) and The Last Remnant (360) certainly have my curiosity halfway piqued.
But Twin Strike: Operation Thunder or Pitfall: The Big Adventure or Margot's Word Brain? Not so much.
Hmm.... let me just point out the most obvious flaw in his logic.
Out of the 555 000 Wii buyers all of them obviously have played all the fun and good games that where released before they bought their console

Seriously is it a felony to buy a game that was released before you bought your console?

AA Football 09 = Junk Sports game that come out every year
Soul Calibur IV = Comparable to SSB Brawl when no Fighting game biggies were on PS360
Civilization Revolution = Only huge on PC and a different market entirely

Mario Super Sluggers = Actually why haven't they replaced that with Wario Land: Shake It! it's September
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and Guitar Hero: World Tour = Yes yes that makes Soul Calibur IV & Civilization Revolution a port too. No wait they're just multiplatform, what dumb logic is he using here.

Gears of War 2 & Fable 2 = Wii has The Conduit & Tale of Symphonia 2 and your point is?
Resistance 2 & Little Big Planet = Wii has The Conduit & Animal Crossing and your point is?
Crysis: Warhead = Not related it's a PC game
Silent Hill: Homecoming = Did some forget Fatal Frame IV is on Wii or something?
Dead Space, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge = All PC ports according to his logic.
Tom Clancy's Endwar = Do people still care about the franchise any more?

de Blob & Wario Land: Shake It! = Only Games for Wii he mentioned that get gamers. Then he throws in junk, lame excuse. Where is Tales of Symphonia 2, Little King's Story, Animal Crossing, The Conduit, Fatal Frame IV, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Mushroom Men, Onechanbara, & Rune Factory Frontier. Oh right he wanted the Wii line-up to sound crap.

So he picks two junk titles out of the Wii line-up and compare it three real games two junk title and throws in The Last Remnant while ignoring games like Arc Rise Fantasia & MadWorld. Good jorb there guy.

Ah! I just had to pick it apart, it's so stupid. Yes Nintendo only has one big game on track that grab people, one in limbo despite Euro release date, and one that's getting ignored. That doesn't mean it hasn't got third party games people should look at. Nintendo just has never payed to hype other companies games.

Mistake most often made by hardcore gamers - On a worldwide scope, they dont dictate the sales of games/consoles, regardless of what things seem like 'on the internet'. If you went by forums and such, you'd think Wii hadnt sold a single unit. Truth is, the casual console and many casual franchises can often outsell what many gamers would happily consider safe hardcore franchises. Take the Brain Age franchise, its outsold the Halo franchise easily in a fraction of the time. These kinds of things often perplex 'harcore' gamers into utter disbelief, places them at defcon 4 and forces them into trying to deal with it online by twisting data until they can sleep at night.

even when you mention the better games coming out on the Wii, it still seems like the Wii is a lightweight up against two giants

I do live on the internet and the schedules are pretty clearly Wii>Trip>FB2 for the next year or so.

This is moot though, because the DS continues to be the greatest console of this generation.
