PlayStation 3 LAGS BEHIND Wii & Xbox 360 THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!!!!!!

Perhaps none of this should be a surprise, as Sony declined to cut prices on their system, while a lack of exclusive game titles and a number of inexpensive Blu-ray players went a long way towards making the PS3 the least attractive option in an already difficult retail climate.

If anything, it looks like Sony won't be able to rely on the console to help prop up a flagging electronics division that just announced it will be cutting thousands of jobs in a bid to boost profitability going into 2009. Happy New Year, indeed.

yeah
when looking around everyone had some sort of holiday bundle except the PS3

hell in some places you could get a 360 elite, with 2 controllers, and 3(or 4 cant remember) games all for 407 US dollars

that's including the tax

wii had bundles too, that actually contained games worth playing (shocking cuz last year it was all stuff you wouldn't touch even if it was 15$)

PS3 had not reductions nor bundles

It's apparently what Sony wanted. They chose not to make any kind of price cut and they had to know the higher price would lead to lower sales. They seem more focused on making the PS3 profitable than they do on selling more of them.

how are they going to make it profitable without attracting more buyers? how will they attract more buyers without either a price cut or more must have exclusives? how are they going to get more exclusives without having a larger install base?

They make it more profitable by having it cost more to purchase than it does to make. The latest reports have Sony losing $50 per $400 PS3 sold. They seem intent to make a profit on selling PS3's in the near future so keeping the price as is makes it easier to do that. I'll assume they employ some type of financial analysts that have made various fancy graphs and such that show it's better to sell at the current price than cut it lower.

Even though they are in 3rd they have sold twice as many PS3's in the US this year than they did last, so even at the current price they have been attracting new buyers.

Most of the exclusives they have are from first and second party publishers so they'll be able to get more exclusives as fast as those companies can make them. As for 3rd parties the days of exclusives from them are just about dead as it doesn't make financial sense to make a game exclusive regardless of what the install base is on one console or the other when all you have to do is port it from one system to the other.

I dunno who Fotron is, but Apple could and should turn the Apple TV into a console. In terms of specs it is much more capable than the original XBox
