Default MKWii soon to outsell GT3

Mario Kart Wii has sold estimatley 13.82 million units, Gran Turismo 3 is currently at 14.87 million.

How long do you think it will take for MKWii to outsell GT3?

(and as a side note Mario Kart DS has sold approx. 13.94 million units)

I remember the first time I played Mario Kart it was on the SNES and it was EPIC!
I grew up on the Atari 2600 and NES, and I remember racing games as being focused on speed, racing against the clock and passing through checkpoints. I've never asked for anything else, I enjoyed racing as it was then.

I also remember the first time I played GT, at that moment I realized that racing games have entered the dark age! I hated hated hated the damn satanic game. It was boring, slow and torturous.
Ever since then, the only times I enjoyed racing games were when playing Ridge Racer and Mario Kart.

I'd love to see GT and every wannabe fail, fail and more fail.

I hope they make a Wii version of RC Pro-Am (the first one) and Rock 'n Roll Racing. And they stay more or less true to the concept of those.

Super Mario Kart was the height of the Mario Kart franchise for me. Mario Kart Wii was OK but the rubber banding in the game often makes it more annoying than fun. For GT I've played 2 and 3 but have never really been able to get into the series that much as I find the realism takes away from the fun. Racing games have always been one of my favourite genres but they're really getting ruined now. You have the rubber banding in stuff like Mario Kart and Motorstorm. Realistic sims that actually require the use of the brake button (brakes should have no place in a racing game) like GT. Or you get stuff that over emphasises drifting to the point that the car really won't go in a straight line because the back end always wants to fish tail like Ridge Racer and several other racing games this gen that I've played demos for but didn't care to remember which ones.

I miss the days of pedal to the medal racers where if you don't crash much you can actually win the race by more than 2 seconds.

Although I really like the Ridge Racer series (played most of them), lately I tend to play Burnout Paradise, Flatout 2 and Trackmania. More fun than realism, and more skill than luck. Push down the accelerator, and never let go! That's my kind of game...

I do have a certain degree of love for Burnout Paradise as the controls do harken back to the days of the never let off the gas racer. However the game isn't quite a straight up race game so that keeps it from bringing back too many past memories.

I did just play a bit of Top Gear for the SNES which has to be my favourite racing game of all time. Lot's of memories there.

Racing sims are boring.
I haven't got MKwii yet. My favorite one is Mario kart DS. 64 controls feel too slippery now.
