But how often does using a blue shell actually help you win? If you're in 2nd place a red shell works just as well as a blue shell does. If you're in any other position all it's going to do is screw over the person in 1st and maybe let you move up a position or two if you happen to be close enough to whomever gets hit by the blue shell.

Farsight.. I definitely agree with that.

I would get so pissed off when someone would turn the farsight on in multiplayer with bots.

When a bot got ahold of it, suddenly you couldn't take 5 steps anywhere in the map without getting shot through a wall.

If you are the guy in first place you can block red shells, you can't do that with blue ones.

I think N.gins missles are the cheapest since if HE could aim would only take two hits to destroy the world. Literaly. Play Crash bandicoot 2-3

Blue Shells have an area of effect like a bomb does. It's more of a homing bomb than a shell really. Because of this, you'll often hit more than just the person in first. I've hit 5 people with one blue shell at the very end of a race and finished first because of it.

It may not be possible to block blue shells, but it is possible to avoid them if you use a mushroom at the right moment. Of course, it would mean that you held that mushroom for awhile since you can't get a mushroom while in first place.

How often does it happen for you that the top 4 or 5 people are bunched close enough to all get hit and you just happen to right behind them with a blue shell?

Not too often; that was very fortunate. However, I very often hit the top two. By the way, I'm talking CPU players only. Most of my playtime has been Grand Prixs.
