I dunno about the UK, but I still see gaming in the US as being shunned by the general public. Unless you're a kid, of course. But, me, I'm a closet gamer.

Our problem is we are consumer whores. Despite the fact that we are ripped off we will keep buying and buying and video games satisfy our lust for new things to buy constantly. At least, that's my theory. It's the same with mobile phones, there are more cell phones in the UK than people.

That's probably the difference. Everyone games. According to the census in 2001, there are 21 million houses in the UK and there was 9 million PS2s sold. Not to mention PC gaming is still pretty prevelant here. Either that or adults just spoil kids with loads of games over here.

My wife's uncle is a stout Italian and someone brought up video games while he was around. He went on this huge rant, talking about, "what the hell are you doing with your life if you're sitting around playing video games?!?!? Show me someone with that much extra time and I'll show you a real loser!"

I basically slinked off into a corner and didn't speak for the rest of the day. That's how it is here, though...and he was referring to a teenager!

No, he's a pretty ambitious guy. He built his own house and works as a gas and heat guy and all that. Nearly the opposite of me.

I can be handy and I don't mind working, but manual labor ain't my thing - not for more than an hour at a time, anyway.

I'm not saying that's how all people think of games, but he's not exactly alone in his thinking. It's generally seen as an immature thing to do, but it's hard for someone in their 40's or 50's to understand that I've been doing this since I was 4 years old and it's hard to just stop.

Fifa has improved but Pro evo's gameplay is alot better then Fifa. Although I'll agree that Fifa has improved alot more then Pro in the last 2 years. At the moment for me minus the online. Pro > Fifa
