Breakthrough Tech basically means whatever impressed them the most, I'm guessing. One could point out the dual-filter process that made the lighting and color so pretty in Halo 3, bu I don't know if that's the merit that got it in the category. What I do know is that there's an 'advisory panel' made up of gaming journalists and bloggers that helped decide the list, so you might blame them. I know Brian Crecente from Kotaku is on it.

I get the feeling that they made their list and then remembered Sony and Nintendo have consoles too, so they just picked the 1st games they could think of.

lol, pretty ridiculous. All 360 games, I don't think that galaxy is gettign the hype it really deserves. Its only on action games, I thought it would deserve a nomination for GOTY, but no only 360 games can have that.
