I think it still depends on the area. I've heard of a few spots in Europe having much less headache for getting one. However Japan seems to still be selling out fairly quickly. Their supply chain just also seems to be a bit more direct.

bad sales for the ps3 in japan this week even i would be expecting better from sonys home base! i mean come on the japs are getting it at the best value as well.

So Mediacreate.co.jp released the January Numbers.

This January in japan Wii sold 405,000
PS3 sold 148,000

Pushing the Wii almost guaranteed to be over the 5 million mark when US numbers come in and the PS3 may break the 1,000,000 consoles sold mark. (sold to consumers not shipped to retailers as this site and VGcharts.org tracks)

So this month the installed userbases will be about
10 million 360s installed in homes
5 million Wiis installed in homes.
1 million PS3s installed in homes worldwide.

I dunno if Wii will ever catch up with 360 but it's profitable already. PS3 is still awaiting a killer App (c'mon metal gear) And 360 is sitting pretty waiting for the massive amount of cash Halo 3 will bring in at launch this year making it the proftiable and insuring Wii will have to work it's ass off to ever overtake it.

Considering that 90% of VGcharts is stolen MC and NPD data, I'd say they track sales through. Also, I've never actually seen a policy statement from James, so I'm not actually sure what NGW is supposed to be tracking.

Not that it makes a difference it will be like 1.5 million , Just add Npd after january #'s are released and add mediacreate and that will come out to about 1.5 million

Ouchies.. DS has 22 of the top 30 spots. Including Wii, Nintendo has 25 total... PS3 games seem to be selling much worse than the console itself over there to not have a single game in the top 30. If they've sold like 600k consoles, just 5% of owners buying one game in a single week would break the top 10.

Next week VF5 might be the top of the ranking, because there are no other strong titles released.

Yes, that was yesterday. I meant the ranking which is published next week and which tallies up the sales numbers of this week.
