To be fair, there were similar sell-outs of the 360, but that was last year. Sony had a full year after the xbox dropped to prepare for launch and it still feels very rushed. Nintendo is going to own this xmas just due to the low price point and available stock. Next year, who knows?

Because sony puts technology in there consoles that nobody is familiar with and a lot of manufactorers don't mass produce. Also I think its to create artifical buzz. Or more of a buzz then it actually is. "the PS3 keeps selling out faster then we can produce" Thats the idea.

I mean puting out half of what you put out the first time seems kind of backwards to me.

There going to be in for a rough ride period. (Japan or the US, and Europe)

I willing to bet that next year around this time(Nov 07) the PS3 isn't even going to peak 6 million in sales. The reason is because there is something not right with the blu-ray lazer diods.(The PS3 ones are trash, and the developers are not going to be able to tap into the deficult as hell cell processor. Plus coding for Blu-ray is WAY different then coding for DVD. You can't compress textures on Blu-ray quite as easy. You just dump unnessesary data on them. True and true the games on the PS3 will get better but its going to take longer.)

I just don't see the PS3 being largely successful until 2009.

Also the BD discs get easyer damaged since they are not as thick as the HD-DVD discs.

The sales figures for the ps3 seem to be getting lower and lower every week. i wonder what the sales figures for the ps3 will be next week after the wii has launched.

Blu-ray discs have a thinner coating yes, however said coating is also ten to a hundred times more scratch resistant than typical DVD and HD-DVD coatings. That pretty much makes up for it at a minimum.

Wii will start a wii-volution in Japan!

Nintendo will dominate Japan, no doubt (literally, not the ex rock band )

Ahh true but lets also take into account that by the 15th of December the 360 was avalible in the 3 major markets.. and was still filling orders.. albeit slowly as molasses in january. Sony has released far less consoles over only 2 regions and are filling even slower. Ugh
