I think Dragon Quest goes to whomever sells the most. DQ is more popular than Final Fantasy is, in Japan.

Lovely sales. I'm not sure what Seiken Densetsu 4 is going to get called here. Trying to be loyal to past and current naming and numbering schemes I'd guess Secret of Mana 3 as Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2) is the most well known part of the series here still.
