I still dont know why MS bothered with Japan in such an intense way. They would have sold WAY more consoles by now, had they concentrated more on US, EU and AU.

All those dust collecting NTSC Jap consoles could have been sold to US gamers at launch.

360 would have sold 1 million in first month if they had enough.

You seem to share my thoughts, Ed. It's funny how companies pour money into hopeless situations. MS should simply focus on areas it's strong in, and if some good RPGs happen along, go for it. But until then they just shouldn't get their hopes up. Japan belongs to Nintendo for now.

I just dont get. Why not concentrate EXTRA hard on regions you CAN dominate (US and AU especially) and do better business overall, and whatever you do in the hopeless territory you do.

In Australia, PS2 has sold around 2million, Xbox 1 around 1 million and Cube like 100K or even lower I think, Cube is waaaaaay behind here.

Xbox 1 was almost a year and a half behind and caught up SOOOOOOOO quickly. Xbox had great brand recognition down here.

360 has a chance to win down here now that Wii has slowed down a fair bit.

MS is enjoying titles from big name Japanese companies still. I imagine at least having a presence in the home land helps ease over their support.

Microsoft is sucking Japan. However, I wouldn't count them out from at least having a moderate presence as they get more japanese-centric games. Blue Dragon was very successful, and was the fastest-selling 360 game there to date, selling over 80,000 copies in the first day (I know other games have done better for other systems; I'm just talking about the 360).

Mistwalker still has a couple games coming out in the region, Lost Odyssey and Cry On, and other japanese developers are working on games for the system. Give it time, and we'll see if Microsoft can improve their position.

meh...who cares about a region that buys the dumbest and most random games around anyway?

at the current rate, Japan will be a distant 3rd behind US and EU; as far as importance goes anyway, very soon.

The only thing for MS important about Japan is the Japanese developer support. There are people in the US and EU that look for those types of games on consoles, so being in Japan serves a purpose for other regions besides the JP one.

The JRPG's out this year will be.

Lost Odyssey
Cry On
Eternal Sonata
Blue Dragon

Once these are ALL out in Japan lets see what happens. I think these JRPG's are more than enough for 1 year, especially if they last the usual 40 hours+

The 360 sales will further improve with the 'GOW pack' that went on sale today.
