yeah, so i have been seeing articles about this forever and i was wondering why we dont have a thread for it. so now we do ![]() anyways, as you all ought to know by now, EA is REALLY wanting to absorb T2 right now. after their original offer that was declined, now EA is going for the Hostile Takeover route by appealing directly to the shareholders and offering a cool $26 a share. i was going to link to some of the pertinent articles on this, but i figure it would just be easier to link to every kotaku article tagged "Take-Two" there are a couple in there about GTA and whatnot, but the vast majority are in one way or another about EA vs. Take-Two. Take-Two - Kotaku this whole issue also deals alot with the EA console thread, because the possibility of an EA console is getting more and more real with each major buyout. seriously one would think that there would be some anti-trust or monopolization suits being filed soon. they were the biggest publisher a year ago, and now they have taken over Bioware, they are closing in on T2 (which is one of the biggest publishers around) and they have the power to do a hostile takeover of Ubisoft. so what are our thoughts about this? think EA will get them and kill off whatever was good about T2 the way they have with countless other companies (RIP westwood, we will never forget)? Will they take over the gaming industry and drive it into the ground with yearly rehashes of the same game until we cannot stand to play games anymore? is this their real goal because they are they in league with Jack Thompson (im sure Leon would support this conspiracy theory)? one thing is for sure, only time will tell, and until then its getting gamers everywhere a little nervous.

This news makes me truly sad. It could drive me out of gaming for good. Those of you who have seen EA decline over the years in favor of money and greed would agree. Why would we want the Wal-Mart of video games to be the biggest player by far in the industry?

Not by EA we don't. Dude, I've been playing games for 25-30 years and have seen all companies strive to make better and better games each year, except EA. I don't feel the way I do for no reason...EA will turn the entire industry to shit if given the opportunity. Seriously, over the last few years, think of the most epic games we've had. Now think of how many of those came from EA, the largest (until now, that is) manufacturer of video games on the planet. They have almost no top-tier titles and yet they create the most # of games. Their games aren't complete crap, but the word "mediocre" comes to mind. That's the kind of world you're looking at - one filled with mediocrity.

Name 1 company that EA took over which improved afterwards. C'mon...there are a LOT of companies they've taken over. Name 1 is all I ask! And we want a console from these effing c*cksuckers? No thank you. Excuse my French, but I think I've actually had it. I'm at the end of my rope.

I know RA2 was last before EA, but never knew that the original team left to Petroglyph. I might go buy me one of their games

i actually bought Star Wars: Empire at War, might have been the last RTS game ive ever bought. i couldnt get into it too much tho. it was the kind of game that you really had to sit down and play with no distractions and get really into it if you were going to do well, and i just didnt have the time. |
