Generally, people with enough time and patience can become pretty good at most games...just have to learn the tricks. I'd say a "good" gamer can become proficient at most games in a relatively short amount of time.

You must be playing the wrong racing games, because most of them still don't require the use of the brake button. I rarely break and I'm decent at racing games. In fact I'm a Motorstorm god(not being boastful. That's my online rank).

I see it takes long to load on both consoles.

Forza definitely requires braking...a lot of it.

That's why I stated MOST don't use it. Forza and Gran Turismo don't make up the majority of the racing game available.

Just someone who can have fun at whatever they happen to be playing instead of getting caught up in "where can I find cheats?!" and "dat guy sux".

People that use cheats fall way down the respect ladder for me. I don't personally mind if someone looks up something when they're genuinely stuck, or if they've already finished the main part of a game and just are going for 100% completion or something. But I just see too many people that dive for a strategy guide or GameFAQs/IGN before they even start the game.

Case in point, my nieces were terrible gamers in this respect. It took me years to break them of the habit of using cheats and guides before finishing a game; their mother (my sister) would habitually buy them strategy guides for almost every game, and it took several years of nudging to get her to stop doing that and let her kids think for themselves instead of getting everything spoon-fed to them.
I used to be one of those terrible gamers who looked up everything via guide for RPGs. That was how I played Chrono Cross then Final Fantasy 4-8, since I was afraid of missing items. I almost did that for 9...but I met a friend in college who had stopped using guides simply because he wanted the fun of actually exploring the place and the satisfaction of finding the items himself. I started to realize that staring at the guide while playing made RPGs an absolute chore to play... I was losing the impact of the story and reading the guide became tedious... so I too stopped using guides, starting with FF9 and onto the RPGs I played afterwards. After ditching guides (used ONLY after the main quest to get the secrets I missed), I found that having things being a CLOSED book actually made things enjoyable again. Fighting bosses WITHOUT knowing their weaknesses for me to actually experiment... it made me regret not realizing it sooner.

So now I play all games (RPGs too) with the no guides, NO grinding for levels policy. It's much more challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding that way.
