lol...i don't even need to respond to the first comment. Yes, I've played Zelda. I like Zelda just fine, but I think it would be better if it had voice acting. Even though I like the Zelda games a lot, I have to admit that they haven't exactly changed all that much since OoT other than the addition of new weapons and some upgraded graphics. Why not add some more elements to the game, maybe like Fable. Again, I like Zelda just fine...but there's certainly a "formula" that's developed for the games.

| Why cant you accept that a lot of people feel that voice acting would cheapen the experience in some games? Trying to detract from the Zelda series by saying there is a 'formula' involved in their creation is both out of context and misleading. There is of course a necessary quota of elements needed for a game to be part of the series - that is why, after all, they are part of the series. If Nintendo came out and made 10 different games all adhereing to the Zelda formula whilst not actually being Zelda games themselves, then you would be able to say something along those lines. Considering that Nintendo played a massive part in the development of the action/roleplaying genre to begin with, you couldnt fault them too much even if they did. Good that you've played and enjoy some of the series though, it wouldnt matter if you didnt - your stance on any game is your own business. (Phantom Hourglass on the DS has shaken up how Zelda games are played. Interaction is very refreshing and the puzzle designs are really nice. I encourage anyone interested in the series to give it a shot if you havent already.)

Lack of voice acting, when there's text boxes, should be a crime. If characters can talk with speech boxes, they can have voice acting. It's not like Link would be the only character in a game to be mute while everyone else speaks (Claude from GTAIII or Gordon Freeman - yeah, and those games were huge failures).

It's wonderful if it's done right... but it's terrible if it's done wrong. I think people are trying to say that no voice acting >>>> bad voice acting. It shouldn't be absolutely necessary, since that really depends on how the voice acting is used and whether the application (the game) really needs it. There's a certain artistic value in silence too... If they did it well, they could have it, but it's all too easy to have mediocre voice acting in games these days.
