We know your stance on videogames; better tech(graphics, sound etc) is the way forward in terms of innovation. You know ours; changes in interface/genres/gameplay style.

I agree mostly but what if those things are not your goal? The mario games are all platformers, they don't aim to be cinematic or even really immersive so would not be significantly improved by voice acting. I played tony hawk's downhill jam early on for the wii and it had voice acting which i was constantly skipping because i was playing a skate/racer i don't care what you think about the other competitors.On the other hand i find it hard to imagine gears/cod4/hl without the voice acting.Voice acting can help achieve some goals but if those are not what you are aiming for then it can add nothing.

I don't agree that voice acting makes a game more epic. FF7-9 all managed to be epic games without it. I have heard a lot of people argue in favour of text for RPG's as well because it allows for a greater range of conversation.

8 is still my favourite and it didn't have voice acting. I am yet to play through 12 though.
