The Canadian Press: Sales continue to grow in Canadian video game industry; 'Mario Kart' No. 1

The video game industry continues to flourish in Canada with revenue growing 56 per cent in the first six months of the year. Sales of hardware, software and accessories totalled $783 million during that period, according to the NPD Group which tracks the industry.
Games for Nintendo dominated June software sales, accounting for six of the top 10 titles. "Mario Kart" was No. 1, followed by "Fit," both for the Wii.
"Metal Gear Solid 4: Gun of the Patriots," for the PlayStation 3, debuted at third, followed by "Guitar Hero: On Tour" for the DS, and "Play" for the Wii.
Six of the top 10 came with some sort of accessory - for example, a steering wheel for "Mario Kart," and a balance board for "Fit."
Games for Nintendo made up 11 of the top 20 (seven for the Wii, four for the DS) while PlayStation had five (three for PS3, two for PS2) and Xbox four.

I like how they chose to drop the Wii out of Wii Fit when talking about it.

They haven't been sending them out to all PS3 owners for free so it requires me to go to a store and purchase the game. By having not purchased the game it has enabled me the opportunity to own a PS3 without owning MGS4.
