I live in Australia and am looking to purchase a cheap R4 for my DS. Are there any good online stores with cheap R4's?

Also, I really dont get this whole R4 thing. How do I get games from the computer to the DS. I have also heard about 1GB and 2GB memory sticks, do I need these? I am just confused with what parts I need.

| Are we allowed to talk about this? Whatever. I just recently bought an R4 from gameyeeeah.com. That domain doesn't really scream credibility and the shipping situation is SCANDALOUS at best.($5 and wait 12-18 business days, no tracking number, no responsibility; or $25 shipping and wait 4-5 business days, tracking number, and some accountability) But the price was the best there by far. Usually, the main R4DS site contains reliable sites to purchase from, but for some reason that list was wiped recently. You can stick the site URL into the WayBackMachine at archive.org to find out what sites used to be listed there to find a place to purchase that fits your needs. As to the second question, yes you will need a MicroSD card. I got a 2GB MicroSD for like $25 and it came with an SD adaptor(so I can use it to store shit on my Wii too) on the Bay. The R4DS package will come with a USB connector that you can put the MicroSD card into and transfer files to it that way. Then you stick the MicroSD card into a little DS cartridge-shaped thingie and put that in your DS Slot-1. On a very slightly related note: I recently purchased and played Metroid Prime 3 for Wii. When I put it into my machine and chose the channel, my Wii warned me that I would be updating my firmware. It told me I could decide not to do this and that if I have had an "unauthorized modification", it could render my Wii unusable. This seems like it's beyond even Nintendo's inordinate amount of care for their customer. They are warning people who are likely to be stealing games that they will break their system and then letting them choose not to do so. Unbelievable. This is one of the reasons Nintendo is a company I love.

Just a note, we can talk about the R4, and other linkers, on the forums, as long as we don't start talking about ROMs and especially not on how to find them. So, feel free to talk about linkers and homebrews (and there are plenty of them, great ones, to justify the purchase of a linker even if you never touch illegal ROMs).

I would go with the M3 DS SIMPLY easy to get hold of and works really well (for my needs at least) I bought mine from a store here in Stockholm (where I live) and I've seen several places on internet that sells it so it's easy to find if you go looking for it. EDIT//: I might add that the R4 and M3DSS are basically the same product. Some people tend to claim (very subjective opinions) that the M3DSS has a better build quality. But for some reason R4 in most places gets out of stock faster then the M3DSS. Last edited by Spindel; October 24th, 2007 at 05:18 PM.
