Default PSP Dead Need Help

Ok my PSP isin't totally dead but it won't play my games. It does everything but when I insert my UMD's it just does nothing.

I called sony ($$$$$$$$$ loving assholes) and they said it's going to cost $89 to fix it. Now, I bought this for $100 off a friend so I'm wondering what i can do. $189 is more than the $169 it would cost me to go out tommorow and buy one but since this one is on firmware 2.00, I couldn't homebrew my next one.

Now what I've come to you for advice with is this:

a) is there a possible way to go online, get games, put them on my PSP and just play them?

b) if so how and where?

c) can you homebrew new psp's (not slim)

d) personal opinion (new or fixed psp)

Well I am not familiar with PSP homebrews vs current firmware, but if the only thing that doesn't work on the one you currently have, you could always keep this one for homebrews and play games on the new one?

a) yes, with custom firmware
b) you can use any bittorent client/site, I'm not going to list details how... I can PM it though
c) I'm not sure but I bet you can
d) I'd say fix it, NEW Sony PSP UMD Drive Laser Lens KHM-420AAA COMPLETE ! - (eBay item 230203327706 end time Dec-16-07 10:06:04 PST)
can't be too hard...
