Default Skype is out.

IGN: PSP Updates to 3.90

Also... Skype Pro – free calls within the US and Canada

3$ a Month for unlimited nationwide calls?? I wonder if this works with the PSP...

I can't use Skype on mine, I have a Phat PSP, plus the firmware is 1.50 on it and I don't want to update it anyway.

Why don't you just go with custom firmware?

From the IGN article.

Quote:
PSP gamers who don't have a PSP Slim will unfortunately be left out from Skype service, as the feature uses the extra RAM added to the Slim to extend the XMB menu system a bit further than is possible with the older model.

No, the reason it doesn't work is a memory issue.

For whatever reason, SNES emulation is really crappy on custom firmware.

I bet a more streamlined version that uses less RAM could be made for homebrew...

Yeah, you're right about that. My SNES emulation runs kinda choppy. But NeoGeo emulation is flawless, strange.
