I was actually considering a DS (FF1,2,4,5,6 are on GBA - 3 on DS) but now there is absolutely no point - unless they continue making the DS lite. They are amking the same mistake Sony have done - the casual gamers wont care though - thats all that matters to Nintendo. The once awesome Nintendo from the 80's and 90's is now dead.

It sounded like boffo was being sarcastic. If you want to play GBA games buy an original model,a lite or a GBA, these aren't coming out for awhile in NA.

I'm always sarcastic. It is technically a valid point, it's just not something I personally understand. How someone is willing to not buy a new console just because it doesn't play games from a previous console is totally beyond me. I have a backwards compatible PS3 but since I've had it I've barely ever touched a PS2 game.

Same. And how can you say PS3 games kill PS2's? I mean yeah some are better but the likes of Jak & Daxter, FFX, KH and SotC cannot just be thrown away. Same with DS - there is about 5 games on the DS that interest me and well more on the GBA because GBA was out before they went casual - its just my opinion and thats why I think this is a mistake.

If I want to play a PS2 game at all, I'll just turn on my PS2 and play it with that. If you don't own the previous console then I can understand the desire for BC, but then again a used PS2 or used Gameboy Advance can both be had for very little money if you want one that bad.
